About Us
Prairie Doctor Brand was founded in 1994 by Robert, a Vancouver Island based Echinacea farmer. Prairie Doctor Brand began by happenstance, after a season of harvesting more Echinacea than he could use, Robert decided to tincture the surplus rather than let it go to waste. From that, Robert fell in love with creating herbal tinctures and Prairie Doctor Brand was born.
In 2020, Robert passed the torch to its current owners: a father/daughter/son team—Shawn, Remy, and Teagan. What started as a single tincture has since grown into a trusted line of approximately 300 herbal tinctures, now found in independent health food stores across Canada.
Our Values & Our Products
At Prairie Doctor Brand, we hold ourselves to the highest standards of quality, sustainability, and care. Every herb and material we use is individually sourced, ensuring that we work only with the best. Nearly 80% of our herbs are certified organic, and the rest meet those same standards, even if they carry no formal certification. Whenever possible, we partner with local farmers and growers here in British Columbia, and when we need to look further afield, we source from the Pacific Northwest or other sustainable producers around the world.
All of our tinctures are crafted using 100% organic, non-GMO cane alcohol and locally sourced spring water. From batching, stirring, and pressing to bottling and labelling, every step is done by hand in small batches. We believe that herbal medicine carries its own natural energetics, and by working carefully and intentionally without industrial machinery, we preserve that vitality in every bottle. The work is labour-intensive, but it is what allows us to craft the best herbal remedies possible—something we believe is worth every bit of time and care.
What We Do
Today, Prairie Doctor Brand is one of the leading suppliers of herbal medicine to independent health food stores across Canada. We proudly offer 105 different Health Canada–licensed tinctures in 50ml and 100ml bottles, trusted by communities, families, and practitioners alike.
In addition to supporting retailers, we also provide bulk tinctures to natural health practitioners across the country. With our full line of over 300 different herbal tinctures, we work closely with practitioners to ensure they can access the medicines they need—and we’re happy to help create customized formulas where needed.
